Muscatine, IA - Brumfield, IL

 August 15 - 18, 2025

We left Amana on Friday, August 15 and headed to Muscatine, IA to a Boondockers Welcome for two nights.  They had a 30 amp electric hookup which we very much appreciated.  It's been hot with temps in the 90s and feeling like over 100.

On the way we stopped at Iowa 80, the World's Largest Truck Stop.  They have 900 parking spaces on over 220 acres.  The main truck stop building is over 130,000 square feet, and they have over 5,000 customers a day. It's a small city with doctors, dentists, laundry, barbers, movie theater, workout room, and everything and anything a trucker could need. We got the truck and 5th wheel washed, got fuel, and then went in this entrance.  There was a large store with trucker items, then up some stairs to another level where there was more store, and then up another set of stairs where they had a food court, souvenirs, and more of a usual convenience store.  We got some lunch, John bought a t-shirt, and we both got can coolers.

We exited out this door.

Next to the exit.

Then we walked up to the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum.  They have so many trucks on display and they all look in mint condition.  I took so many pictures, but here are just a few.

These people keep popping up everywhere we go!

This was only one aisle of many.

The sign is hard to read but this truck is made from stainless steel sheet metal.

This guy bought his truck and started decking it out.

The next day we went into Moline, IL to the John Deere Pavilion.  I wasn't sure what to expect but there wasn't as much as I thought there would be.  It was a nice display of equipment, but if you're not already in Moline it's not worth a detour.

This was a cutaway of the motor they used for training.

This was huge!  This is the front.

This is the back.

It was time for us to get on the road again.  We crossed the Mississippi River again...

...and into Illinois.

We arrived at Jubilee College State Park on Sunday, August 17 for two nights.  It's 50 amp electric only for $23.00 per night.  It's still really hot and the air conditioners are running almost non-stop during the day.

We almost have the place to ourselves.  But tomorrow we'll be...

Roving on...
