Plummer, ID to White Bird, ID

 June 28 - July 6, 2026

It's a blessing that we got to do the Red Bus Tour in Glacier on Friday, June 26, because the following Tuesday there was flooding in the Many Glaciers area and that area and parts of Going to the Sun Road were closed.

On Saturday, June 27 we arrived at Soaring Hawk RV Park in Plummer, ID.  We were there for five nights camping with our long time friends Pam and Mark.  They were in our wedding and we were in theirs.  We had a great time together and look forward to the next time we can get together!

We took a walk on a very small portion of the Trail of the Couer d'Alenes.  It's a paved bike trail that runs 72 miles from Plummer, ID to Mullan, ID.  It's one of the top biking trails in the country.

Bridge on the lake

The lake wasn't very deep.

Pretty sunset from our site

We took the Lake Couer d'Alene Cruise.  It was a 90 minute boat ride around the shore of part of the lake.  It was a beautiful day for it!  Then Mark treated us to dinner at Red Robin.  Thanks Mark!

The campground had a beautiful lodge with tables and chairs, a fireplace, rest rooms, free coffee and tea, and easy chairs.  This was the sunset view from the deck.

We went down two times to play games.  We were actually inside but the whole back of the lodge was sliding glass doors.  It was beautiful!

We had site #45.  It was water and 50amp electric for $54 per night.  There wasn't any sewer so we had to manage our water for five nights, but there were two dump stations.  I was still able to do two loads of laundry.

It was a beautiful campground!  It used to be a quarry so there were more sites than this that were terraced down to the lodge.  There weren't very many people there, even on the weekend, and was very quiet.  We would return.

On Thursday, July 2, we said goodbye to our friends and headed for White Bird, ID.  We wanted to stay off the road for the Independence Day weekend.

We are Salmon River Resort until tomorrow.  We have full hookups for $54 per night.  It's been very quiet, even on the 4th.

In addition to RV sites they also have a small motel and a couple of cabins.  We're down in a valley so no cell service but we do get Starlink.

This is White Bird Creek that flows into the...

...Salmon River.

They have a nice beach area.

It's been a relaxing few days but we're ready to be...

Roving on...

 15 You broke open the fountain and the flood;
You dried up mighty rivers.
 16 The day is Yours, the night also is Yours;
You have prepared the light and the sun.
 17 You have set all the borders of the earth;
You have made summer and winter.
Psalm 74:15-17
